Murmure Chypré demonstrates the perfumer's versatility. He can do West Africa, with De Toma à Zouma, and he can also do French classics. The beautifully blended Mumure Chypré is a smooth chypre that any fan of the genre is sure to appreciate, if not worship. While many fragrances of this genre open with a burst of tangy, sometimes jarring, top notes of bergamot, this one handles its wearer with a little more care. A thoughtful introduction via earthy-sweet tagetes and bright neroli takes us gently by the hand and lead us into a whimsical heart of flowers, sweetened tobacco and springy moss. The heart deepens, becoming more plush with supple black leather and finely-milled orris powder.
Murmure Chypré embodies the very essence of the genre. It smells as though you are exploring moss-covered ruins on the island of Cyprus, at the site where the world's oldest perfumes were created, admiring the green landscape dotted with wildflowers, feeling a cool mist on your cheek. It's everything a chypre should be and yet so much more.
