You can tell from first sniff that De Toma à Zouma has a whole lotta love built into it. Created around the Minnesota-based perfumer's memories of his homeland of Burkina Faso in West Africa, this fragrance is the equivalent of a warm hug in the form of steaming black coffee, delicious sweet and savory spices, and a creamy trio of tonka, benzoin and vanilla. It's gourmand, but the presence of earthy, dusty notes imparted by woody components and savory spices successfully temper any potential sweetness.
If Oswald Paré intended to bottle the warmth of "the land of the honest people" he did an amazing job. Through this transportive fragrance, it's easy to imagine feeling the warm, dry air on your face, the scent of coffee brewing and food cooking inside a local's home, and experiencing their kind hospitality. Such a magnificent creation and a rare, authentic representation of West Africa!
